Abstract

In the codes used in the Armenian state of Cilicia there are plenty of examples of the definitions of violence, which are important to consider in the medieval context. These are in the codes of Mkhitar Gosh and Smbat Constable. In particular, the cases of violence defined in matrimonial law and various aspects of everyday relations. What kinds of examples of the legal definition of violence are there in the sources related to the history of Cilician Armenia? How were these cases legally defined? How can these formulations express the multifaceted coexistence episodes of daily life in Cilician Armenia? These are the main questions discussed in this article․
